PITTSBURGH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
THE GATHERING PLACE WEDDING
I met Mandy and Allen the day of the wedding. I often talk alot about meeting with couples ahead of time and creating a connection with them prior to the wedding day, but while we only communicated via email and phone in the months leading up to the wedding, we still had a fantastic time working together the day of.
Mandy and Allen had much to celebrate the day of their wedding. Not only did they have their adorable little boy there to celebrate with them, but they also had their second baby on the way as well. Talk about a perfect family photo op, am I right?! I just loved the feeling of family and love the day of their wedding. It was truly a celebration – a celebration of the union of their love and a celebration of family.
A FIRST LOOK BEFORE THE CEREMONY
Mandy and Allen opted for a first look prior to the ceremony. I love first looks. I’m sure I’ve said that a million times, but I really do. What I loved about theirs was the reaction that Allen had. He was truly proud and just in awe of Mandy when he turned around.
WEDDING CEREMONY AT THE GATHERING PLACE
I haven’t been to the Gathering Place in a couple of years and the owners of the venue have been hard at work since my Fall 2015 wedding! The new additions to the property included a gorgeous gazebo that is placed beautifully out into the lake. The best part about that gazebo for their wedding was the magnificent floral banner designed and created by the Blue Daisy Floral Designs. It was amazing. They also created the gorgeous centerpieces for the reception.
Mandy and I have a few things in common. The first is obvious, you know … our name. She’s also a twin! While her and her twin are identical, we aren’t, but still twins, nonetheless. Having a twin is the best thing ever and my sister and I are super close, as are Mandy and her twin sister. Lastly, we have family in common. No, we aren’t related, but we have the closeness of family so much in common. Like I said before, I didn’t meet them both until the day of, but what I gathered in a short amount of time at the beginning of the day was how close knit their family really is. I am a huge sucker for romance and I looooooove the love my couples share, but my absolute favorite part of the wedding day was how close they are with their families and the moments I documented are by far some of my favorite family moments. The reaction of her Dad for their first look as well as their final moments together walking down the aisle ….. it warms my heart just thinking about it all.
PORTRAITS AND BRIDAL PARTY PICTURES AT THE GATHERING PLACE
The really good thing about Mandy and Allen’s first look was that we were able to get some great portraits of just the two of them and also with their little guy prior to the ceremony. We had juuuust enough time after the ceremony for some family portraits and portraits of the bridal party before the rain started. And when I say rain, I mean, it rained. But all is well when you have a beautiful venue like the Gathering Place.
GATHERING PLACE WEDDING RECEPTION
From a lovely poem written and read by Mandy’s twin sister, to their first dances, this reception was again, a major celebration of love and family. Allen’s Dad surprised them with a song while Allen danced with his Mom, the same song that was playing on their way home from the hospital after Allen was born – Sweet Child O’ Mine – seriously …. no, I’m not crying, you’re crying. Okay, okay, yeah , I’m crying.
Mandy and Allen, it was such an honor to be there and to document your wedding day. Much love to you both and to your growing family.
