PITTSBURGH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
RENAISSANCE PITTSBURGH HOTEL WEDDING
I met with Sara and her Mom, Kathy, early on in their planning of the wedding. We instantly connected. I’m pretty sure our initial meeting was well over an hour. We sat and talked like we had been friends for years. I knew our working relationship would be fantastic.
Shortly after, I met up with Sara and Joe for their ENGAGEMENT SESSION at Phipps in downtown Pittsburgh. They were having a city wedding so we choose a location that gave a nice variety to their series of photos.
Their wedding ceremony was held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church in Pittsburgh and they held their reception at the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel. Sara and her girls got ready at the Renaissance and it was amazing. We had so much fun. I loved the atmosphere of the bridal suite at the Renaissance and the decor matched perfectly with the overall theme of the wedding. Sara was stunning in her jeweled headpiece and her incredibly detailed dress. Seriously … she was a dream.
TRADITIONAL CATHOLIC CEREMONY
The Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church is a gorgeous and unique church. What I love most about Pittsburgh churches is how beautiful and ornate they all are. The church had a balcony and I was able to sneak up to take some shots from above. We recently designed an album of the wedding day and utilized a full spread of a wide shot from the balcony and it looked great within the ceremony spreads.
Before making their way out to Molly’s Trolley for some portraits in the city, Sara and Joe were celebrated by their bridal party and guests with rose pedals outside of the church. Who doesn’t love an exit like this?!
BRIDAL PARTY PICTURES IN DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH
We planned out the entire portrait schedule and stops prior to the wedding day. Sara and Joe’s wedding was in a prime location in downtown Pittsburgh. I cannot say enough about how much I love Pittsburgh weddings. The city look is so romantic. Our first stop was Strawberry Way. The painted mural on the road was such a great look for them. Our next location was the Roberto Clemente bridge since their reception was at the Renaissance. Mother Nature had other plans, unfortunately. We had just enough time at Strawberry Way before the skies opened up and it began to pour. Rain on your wedding day? No worries for that! I had plan B lined up before the wedding day. We finished their bridal party portraits at the Convention Center along the river. We needed to keep everyone covered and this was the best place. While we didn’t get the city look we were looking for, the colors looked fantastic against the pale dresses and dark tuxes.
WEDDING RECEPTION AT THE RENAISSANCE PITTSBURGH HOTEL
The reception area was unbelievable. Quite honestly, it was a photographers dream. I could have photographed it all day long. My absolute favorite florist, Blossoms by Jillian exceeded every expectation and created a dream space for Sara and Joe. The best part about having a wedding reception at the Renaissance …. the full wall of windows overlooking the North Shore of Pittsburgh. You seriously cannot beat the view. As for the party, Jeremy Ganss Productions kept it going all night.
Sara and Joe – and Kathy!!! – thank you so much for including me in your day. I loved the time we spent together.
