PITTSBURGH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
TWENTIETH CENTURY CLUB WEDDING
Margaret and Ben were married a week before Christmas in downtown Pittsburgh. Oh how I love downtown weddings. Throw in a winter and Christmas look and, well, you know where this is going …. winter wedding perfection! I literally was hoping every single day for some snow on their wedding day – ask Margaret, I was super excited when it was in the forecast – but in typical Pittsburgh fashion, the forecast changed and it was oddly on the warmer side for mid-December and no snow. We did however, have some beautiful sunlight and so, even with no snow, who can complain about that?
Their wedding ceremony was held at St. Bede’s Church and their reception at the Twentieth Century Club. I met with Margaret later in the year last year when she and Ben began planning their wedding. When I met with her, I knew we were a perfect match. They were planning their wedding within months of their engagement (much like my own wedding and engagement) and Margaret is such a romantic, and reminds me much of myself. I LOVED the reason behind their venue choice. When Margaret was in high school, she attended an event at the Twentieth Century Club and thought to herself, THIS is where I will get married one day. And so they did.
TRADITIONAL CATHOLIC WEDDING CEREMONY
Margaret is very dedicated to her faith and she let me know that the church, the ceremony in the church, and the tradition of marriage there IS what the day was about for her. A breath of fresh air. We spent much time planning the photography for the day and the church was on the top of the list for portraits.
DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH BRIDAL PARTY PICTURES
Mid-December means early sunsets here in Pittsburgh and so we were racing against the clock to get portraits in before dark. Thankfully, the location of the Twentieth Century Club allows for some great variety to get some downtown city looks for portraits. Once we utilized all of the light that we could, we went inside for the remainder of their photos.
Prior to heading downtown, Margaret wanted to have some portraits taken inside of their home. We spent some time there during their ENGAGEMENT SESSION in the fall and so it was a great way to add to the wedding day to take some quick shots inside. I joked to Margaret and asked her how weird it felt to be in her wedding gown INSIDE their house. Not too many brides get to experience that. Their home is very special to them and so it was a wonderful sentiment to be there.
TWENTIETH CENTURY CLUB WEDDING RECEPTION
The main ballroom at the Twentieth Century Club has so much character. Margaret and Ben’s sweetheart table was surrounded by their guests tables as they enjoyed dinner, toasts, and a lovely song sang by one of their honorary bridesmaids. Immediately following, they took to the dance floor and danced the night away.
Margaret and Ben, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of such an incredible day. I am so glad that our paths crossed. Much love to you both.
