Love Series: Mali + Dalton | Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer
The first of the new Blog Series is here!!! Love Series! I will be showcasing and sharing YOUR story, through YOUR own words here on the blog and I’m so excited for this new venture! I was even more excited when Mali reached out to share more of her and Dalton’s story with me. They were one of my couples and it was such an amazing experience photographing their gorgeous wedding last year. After you read about their love story, be sure to check out their fall wedding at Armstrong Farms HERE.
And so here it is. The first of the Love Series, the love story and connection of Mali and Dalton.
LOVE SERIES: MALI + DALTON
Dalton and I first met at Penn State Behrend our sophomore year. However in our freshman year, Dalton knew who I was but I didn’t know who he was. During freshman orientation I was hypnotized on stage and lip-sang a song in front of our entire freshman class. While this was going on, Dalton was sitting next to his roommate and turned to him and said “I’m going to marry her one day”. Fast-forward to the beginning of sophomore year, I was at a school event that showcases clubs and extracurricular activities where Dalton was at a table for his rugby team. He stopped me and started talking to me about my summer and what I had done. At the time I didn’t know who he was, but we talked for a while anyways and then I eventually left and we didn’t talk again for a while. A few weeks later we met again at a mutual friend’s apartment and started talking again. I gave Dalton my number, but made it pretty clear that I wasn’t interested in a relationship. After several weeks of persistence (on Dalton’s part!) I agreed to finally go on a date with him and we went to a Rascal Flatts concert in Erie. “God Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flats became our song, and was our first dance song when we got married!
WHEN THEY FELL IN LOVE
I completely embarrassed myself when I first knew I was in love with Dalton. We were a couple months into dating, and as he was leaving my apartment one night and said “bye”, I shouted after him “bye, I love you!” COMPLETELY by accident! I was so embarrassed (and I think he was too) we both kind of stuttered and stumbled and he walked out the door. At this point I knew I loved him, but neither of us had said it yet! I didn’t want to say it first, but I think my heart felt otherwise and turned my brain to mush. The next day, Dalton came back over and let me know that he loved me too and had been wanting to tell me for a while!
HOW THEY CONNECT
I think that our relationship has a very deep base in trust, respect, and of course, humor. Dalton and I have a ton of inside jokes and love to laugh with each other! Our goofy personalities complement one another and lead to a connected-ness that only we can understand. We really value the little moments where we can just sit on the couch and talk about our day, or dance to a early 2000’s rap song in the living room and just laugh with each other. Those little moments throughout our lives are ones that I will seriously never forget! I’m so lucky I married my best friend!
Thank you so much for sharing your love story, Mali!
