I’m asked this question all the time. It’s a common question that I am asked when meeting with potential couples. I always have two answers for this. I like to speak to my all over photography style, both with shooting and editing.

My shooting style is very simple. I’m a hopeless romantic, and so my style fits. I look for romance and connection for both my lighting and my posing. I’m also a firm believer in that you always look your best when you are not getting your photo taken. While I do have my couples look at the camera and smile, candid photos of laughing, dancing, cuddling, and kissing are my favorite.

My editing style is clean and classic. I want your photos to stand the test of time. I like evenly lit, clean, and vibrant colors in your edits. Now, if you follow my work, you’ll often see sunset photos. Who doesn’t love a good sunset photo? I still edit the same way, but the images aren’t always as crisp, have some great lens flair, and oftentimes look a bit more ‘artistically edited’, as I’ve been told. That is simply the way I took the image.

But enough about me. I’m sure you thought this post was about MY style. It’s not. I’m questioning YOUR style. You are planning your wedding and you are likely starting to look for your start vendor team. Photography is an important part of the team, and choose wisely. If you are from the Pittsburgh area like I am, you’ll see that there are a ton of us here to choose from. We all have different options, pricing, and styles. Obviously price is important. Yes, I said it. Price is important if you are sticking to a budget. After you have narrowed down what you can afford, you will want to determine what YOUR style is.

Obviously, you’ll want to look at what you like now, but I encourage you to think ahead. Think ahead after the wedding day when you have your gallery of images. Perhaps you even have an album. What style will you still love a year from now? Ten years from now? What style matches the style of your wedding? Is it classic and elegant? Is it dark and moody? These are all things to consider when selecting your photographer.

There is no right or wrong. Any style is lovely, as long as it is the right fit for you.
