Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer
Planning a wedding can oftentimes come with an added amount of stress. Planning a wedding during a pandemic adds a level of stress that no bride can plan for. I don’t believe that at the start of this year you worried about having to cancel or reschedule your wedding day. You wished for this day, planned for this day, and looked forward to this day. If you are finding yourself having to move your date and are feeling scared, mad, sad, anything – please know that it’s okay to feel whatever you are feeling. Your feelings are valid! You are grieving a loss.
If you are a 2020 bride and are facing changes, I have some advice for you. If it’s even the slightest possibility that you might have to consider changes, reach out to your venue first. Talk to them about their plans to move dates. If time is on your side, have a list of dates that are a possibility for you, and then reach out to your vendors.
If you haven’t heard from any of your vendors yet, now is the time. Ask them about their policy on rescheduling during this crisis and check in on their availability. Trying to retain all of your vendors is an ideal situation. Moving dates with each individual vendor will require a process, but they will walk you through it all.
Check in on your dress! Small businesses right now have been forced to close. If you are able to pick up your dress to keep on hand for safe keeping, I would do so.
If you had been on the fence about hiring a day of planner or event planner – there’s no better time than the present!! They will take a level of stress off of your shoulders. I don’t know about you, but I’d want someone holding my hand through this. If you need a good one (or two), let me know. I’m happy to recommend my favorites.
Planning a 2021 Wedding During a Pandemic
For the 2021 brides, while you aren’t facing any possible date changes as of now, the brides who are changing their dates this year might be forced to move to the next year. The 2021 wedding season might be looking much different than anticipated.
If you are looking at the 2021 year to have your wedding, now is the time to set the date …. or have some flexible dates in mind. Start looking at venues. Once you’ve found your match, secure the date.
Start to secure your vendors. I always tell my brides that it’s okay to start booking vendors as soon as your venue is booked. IF you’ve already secured your date and venue but haven’t secured your vendors, NOW is the time. Not to be dramatic or anything, but if you have some favorited vendors, I’d get in touch with them before someone else does.
The biggest piece of advice that I can tell you is – stay positive. You are still marrying your dream partner. Honor your original day (blog post coming soon on that topic) and continue to look forward to your dream wedding and even bigger dream future together.
You have a hugely supportive Pittsburgh wedding community on your side, here to help, myself included. Don’t hesitate to reach out for help, advice, or if you need anyone to just plain vent to. Until then, stay safe and healthy. We are all in this together.
